Elevator Conspiracy East Lansing

Aug 222011

After an absence of a year or so, we’re very pleased to announce that our sax maestro and sometime-Musical Director, Michael Teager, is back in the group. And to prove that the Web isn’t as fast as real-life, we’ve already completed our first gig with Mike in the group, when we performed at the Renegade Theatre Festival on August 18th… Look for Mike at upcoming shows… and of course, Mike’s return means that sometime side-project with Matt Borghi, Teag and PK (check out our new site) is also back and booking… Look for both of the groups performing around Mid-Michigan in the months to come, as well as updates on ElCon shows, including an October 28th date at Mac’s Illustrious Bar in Lansing.

We’ve posted a demo that we put together about six weeks ago of our new singer Laura Kennell performing with group. She’s been a part of about four or five shows with us now, and as a core, founding member, of what would become ElCon, we’re pleased to have her onboard again. Stop and say ‘hey’ to her at our next show, and in the meantime, you can hear the new tracks here…

Matt here… Thank you to everyone who came out to the The Elevator Conspiracy gig at Scene Metrospace in East Lansing last night!

For starters, the evening was fantastic. We started with Laura Kennell opening up, a founding member of Elevator Conspiracy, followed by a solid 45 minutes of awesome with Flamenco Empanao and my first bit as a lead guitarist, exclusively, and even more interestingly doing it in a latin lead style ala Buena Vista Social Club or Gipsy Kings. After that, a great set with Elevator Conspiracy was had with Laura Kennell joining us on stage for the first time ever and as Will Jurkiewicz, ElCon’s drummer, said “the only thing that would have made it absolutely perfect would of been having Mike here…” It’s true, Michael Teager, our saxophonist and musical director, who I’ve written about on here before, would have made it a truly perfect evening. In any case, it was still very a great time.

Thank you to friends old and new who came out.

Thanks for Bryan Kay for recording us and giving us a place to get together the first few times – We acknowledged Bryan at the show last night.

As well, big thanks to Tim Lane, who, as always, is the most gracious of hosts. Thank you, Tim.

Thank you.

Festival of the Sun rocked… it was the first set we’ve done where we kept the jams in the structure of the songs, and in so doing really expanded our musical boundaries. Next show is at Woldumar Nature Center in Lansing.

I’ve been told that there will be some pictures of the show to come, and by all means, if you have some, post ‘em!
